Grassroots Game Conference: Serious Games and Gamification for Non-Profits
Tuesday, April 24, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (EDT)
This $20 ticket allows entry into the full day of events during the Tuesday Non-Profit Track of the Grassroots Conference. This schedule may change slightly prior to the event, due to the addition of other elements but please plan to attend the full day of sessions.
What is Gamification?
Gamification for Community Engagement and Volunteer Recruitment A panel providing overview of successful gamifications and analysis of their usefulness in non-profit scenarios. It has been said that effective gamification only occurs when there’s already an effective game dynamic in place, and, hence, gamification is simply a recognition and effective use of such inherent dynamics. In many cases community interactions can clearly benefit from this sort of informed assessment.
Ryzing: A Case Study of Fundraising embedded into Gameplay A presentation of specific data learnings from a recent initiative by David Gloss of Here’s My Chance (HMC) into the casual gameplay of ryzing.com. This session will explore what we can learn and use of the nature and interests of donors in other environments, and the potential value of embedded strategic relationships in games and elsewhere for fundraising.
Gamification of Fundraising A panel specifically addressing gamified opportunities in fundraising, and related data analysis regarding donors. There are a number of social fundraising tools; we will be discussing how gameplay dynamics effectively increase reach and enhance other activities in a range of such elements.
2:00 PM-4:00 PM
What Serious Games Do: Commissioning Serious Game Creation: A panel discussion of the discovery process and definition of scope, both in technical development and of your potential audience. This should help you to assess whether serious games can achieve your goals, and to understand how best to engage and work with game developers.
